Manchester United has abandoned months-long negotiations with Amazon Prime Video over a proposed “All or Nothing”-style documentary that would have paid the club well in excess of £10 million, according to people familiar with the discussions. The Premier League side ended talks after head coach Ruben Amorim told executives he believed the fly-on-the-wall series would distract the first team. Senior leadership, including INEOS-backed directors and chief executive Omar Berrada, ultimately endorsed Amorim’s view, concluding that the timing and commercial terms did not outweigh sporting considerations. Amazon’s offer would have been the largest it has made for a football documentary, surpassing previous deals with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. The decision underscores United’s commitment to give Amorim autonomy as he attempts to improve a squad that finished 15th last season. United is contending with more than £700 million of debt, shrinking commercial income and the absence of European competition. Rejecting a lucrative media project highlights the club’s willingness to prioritise on-field recovery over short-term cash, even amid a broader cost-cutting programme.
