SuperSport International, the sports broadcasting arm of MultiChoice, has agreed to sell its Premier Soccer League side, SuperSport United, to Siwelele Football Club (Pty) Ltd. The transaction ends roughly three decades of ownership and follows a closed bidding process in which Siwelele emerged as the preferred buyer. Completion of the deal still requires approval from the PSL’s executive committee. SuperSport United are three-time Premiership champions, making the licence one of the most valuable in South African football. MultiChoice said the divestment forms part of a broader restructuring as the pay-TV operator tackles declining subscription revenue in several African markets. Siwelele FC chair Calvin Le John said the prospective owners intend to build on SuperSport United’s winning tradition once the league gives the green light.
