Croatian midfielder Luka Modric was officially unveiled as an AC Milan player on 4 August, marking the end of a 13-season spell at Real Madrid that yielded 28 major trophies and a 2018 Ballon d’Or. The 39-year-old arrives on a free transfer and will take part in his first training session at Milanello on Tuesday. Modric told reporters he has followed Italian football since childhood and described Milan as his favourite team growing up. Acknowledging the club’s recent struggles, he said the minimum objective is a return to the Champions League but insisted Milan “must fight for titles.” He added that adapting quickly to Serie A’s tactical demands is his immediate priority. The veteran believes his experience and competitiveness can lift a youthful squad now coached by Max Allegri. Modric declined to set an end date to his career, noting that his focus is on performing for Milan while keeping open the possibility of representing Croatia at the 2026 World Cup.
