Real Madrid has dispatched a team of specialists to the United States to evaluate the playing surfaces for this year’s expanded FIFA Club World Cup, according to a report first published by Marca. The internal report, delivered to head coach Xabi Alonso and the medical staff, concludes that right-back Dani Carvajal, centre-back Éder Militão and defender David Alaba—each returning from anterior cruciate-ligament injuries—should not be fielded on the assessed pitches because of heightened re-injury risk. Club sources said the recommendation is advisory; Alonso and team doctors will make a final decision on the trio’s participation once the squad arrives in the United States and completes medical evaluations closer to the tournament kickoff.
