Walt Disney Co. said Wednesday it will launch a stand-alone ESPN streaming service on August 21, charging $29.99 a month or $35.99 when bundled with Disney+ and Hulu. A promotional rate of $29.99 for the bundle’s first 12 months will be offered at launch. The direct-to-consumer platform will carry the full slate of ESPN linear networks alongside ESPN+ programming through a redesigned app that adds multiview, integrated statistics and fantasy tools. The debut comes just ahead of the U.S. college football and NFL seasons, and Disney said ESPN will become the exclusive domestic home of all WWE premium live events starting in 2026. Separately, Disney confirmed it will fully integrate Hulu into Disney+, introducing a single streaming application in 2026 and phasing out the standalone Hulu app. The Hulu brand will replace the Star tile on Disney+ outside the United States beginning in the fall of 2025, although customers will still be able to purchase individual Disney+ or Hulu subscriptions. Disney also told investors it will stop disclosing paid subscriber counts and average revenue per user for ESPN+ after the fiscal fourth quarter of 2025, and for Disney+ and Hulu after the first quarter of 2026, following a wider industry shift away from granular user metrics.
