DoorDash’s food-delivery platform suffered a nationwide outage early Wednesday, preventing both customers and delivery drivers from accessing the service. Monitoring site DownDetector logged more than 5,000 problem reports after issues began around 3:46 a.m. Central time on 9 July. About 71% of the complaints concerned the Dasher app used by drivers, while customers reported errors that stopped them from placing breakfast orders. Users trying to log in were shown messages such as “Unable to load data” and were unable to start a delivery run or complete purchases. The disruption peaked during the morning rush, affecting restaurant partners and gig workers who rely on the app for income. DoorDash did not immediately comment on the cause of the failure. By mid-afternoon the company said service had resumed and that it was issuing refunds where appropriate. DoorDash has not disclosed the number of transactions interrupted or provided details on what triggered the outage.
