Project Mariner operates within the Google Chrome browser, accessing users' open tabs to perform tasks such as clicking, typing, scrolling, and filling out forms autonomously. Developed by Google DeepMind, the agent is designed to understand user goals and interact with web content to complete tasks efficiently. This rollout is part of Google's efforts to enhance browser functionality with AI capabilities. Additionally, a $20 subscription tier is planned to expand access to these AI agents to a broader user base. Project Mariner competes with similar AI tools like Perplexity's Comet in the browser assistant space.
