Code discovered in the latest iOS 26 developer build suggests Apple is preparing to add a numerical sleep-quality score to the Apple Watch. Developers located a Health-app graphic titled “Watch Focus Score” that shows an Apple Watch displaying the number 84 circled by colour-coded bars representing time awake, REM and deep sleep stages. Additional icons for temperature, alarm and bedtime routines imply Apple may fold wrist-temperature and other metrics into the calculation. A first-party sleep score would fill a gap in Apple’s health portfolio and bring the watchOS platform closer to rivals such as Fitbit, Garmin and Oura, all of which have long offered daily readiness or sleep-quality scores. Apple already tracks sleep stages, but it currently presents the information without an overall rating or readiness indicator. Apple has not commented on the leak, and the code does not reveal when—or whether—the feature will ship. The timing aligns with the company’s usual schedule for unveiling watchOS updates, suggesting the function could debut when watchOS 26 is released later this year or in a subsequent software update.
