Starbucks on Monday made its long-rumoured “secret menu” a permanent feature of its mobile app, giving the chain’s more than 33-million active U.S. Rewards members fast access to customised drinks that had circulated informally on social media. The new tab appears under “Offers” and is available at participating stores nationwide. The inaugural line-up comprises four fan-inspired beverages: Cookies on Top (a vanilla-sweetened Cold Brew topped with cookie crumbles), Dragonfruit Glow-Up (a blended Mango Dragonfruit Lemonade with peach juice and vanilla cold foam), Lemon, Tea & Pearls (black tea lemonade with raspberry popping pearls) and Just Add White Mocha (a white-chocolate version of the Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso). Starbucks says additional creations will rotate onto the list over time, streamlining ordering for customers and baristas alike. To spur engagement, the company is running a Secret Menu Contest from 14–20 July. Customers and employees can submit customised drink recipes, after which four finalists will each receive $5,000 and see their beverages featured in the app from 18–25 August. A public vote on Instagram will determine the winner of an additional $25,000 grand prize. The promotion extends Starbucks’ broader push to drive digital sales and simplify in-store operations. In June, the Seattle-based chain standardised add-on charges with a flat $0.80 fee for any syrup or sauce combination, and earlier this year it outlined plans to eliminate about 1,500 jobs while overhauling menus and store layouts.
