WhatsApp is rolling out a suite of new features, many powered by Meta AI, to improve messaging and accessibility. A key addition is an AI-powered chat summarization tool, available in beta version 2.25.15.12 for Android, which enables users to generate concise summaries of unread messages in group and individual chats. This feature uses Private Processing for on-device, encrypted analysis and is not available in chats with Advanced Chat Privacy enabled. Another development is the AI-powered chat wallpaper generator, under development for both iOS and Android. Users will be able to create and customize wallpapers for all or individual chats using text prompts, with Meta AI generating and refining images based on user input. WhatsApp is also introducing a high-contrast mode to aid users with visual impairments. This mode, which can be activated through the app's accessibility settings, increases the contrast of interface elements and text, and is expected to be available soon on both Android and iOS. Other recent updates include chat filters that allow sorting by 'All', 'Unread', or 'Groups', improved audio recording with single-tap activation, the ability to pin important messages, extended status durations to 90 seconds, interactive stickers in status updates, and new video and audio tools for channel managers. Meta AI integration also supports users in drafting and optimizing CVs and professional profiles, with best practices for privacy and prompt formulation recommended.
