WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is testing new AI-driven features to enhance user experience. The messaging platform is developing a widget named 'Ask Meta AI,' allowing users to access AI functionalities directly from their home screens without opening the app. The widget, currently in beta testing for Android version 2.25.1.27, includes features such as text-based interaction with Meta AI, instant photo sharing for AI analysis, and AI-powered image editing and generation. Additionally, WhatsApp is working on a feature enabling users to create and customize AI chatbots, called 'AI Characters,' tailored to their needs. These chatbots can assist with tasks like productivity, entertainment, and personalized assistance. The AI capabilities are powered by advanced machine learning and natural language processing algorithms. However, the availability of these features is currently limited to select regions and users, with restrictions in the EU due to local regulations.
