China has expressed displeasure over joint military exercises conducted by India and the Philippines in the South China Sea, stating that such actions undermine regional peace and stability. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that territorial and maritime disputes should be resolved peacefully and without third-party interference. Guo also reiterated China's support for ASEAN's efforts to promote dialogue and peace, particularly in the context of the ongoing General Border Committee (GBC) meeting between Cambodia and Thailand in Malaysia, where China is invited to participate in an extraordinary session on August 7. India, through its Ministry of External Affairs Secretary East Kumaran, affirmed its commitment to stability in the South China Sea based on the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and highlighted the importance of freedom of navigation, overflights, and legitimate commerce in the region. Meanwhile, Malaysia's Chief of Defense Forces General Mohd Nizam Jaffar reported that Thailand and Cambodia have expressed strong commitments to resolving their conflicts during secretariat-level discussions.
