The Minnesota Lynx strengthened their lead in the WNBA standings on Sunday, defeating the New York Liberty on the road to extend their winning streak to five and improve to a league-best 27-5. Minnesota prevailed despite the continued absence of All-Star forward Napheesa Collier, who is sidelined with an ankle injury. Guard Courtney Williams paced the balanced attack with 14 points, five rebounds and seven assists, while DiJonai Carrington added 15 points and six boards off the bench and Kayla McBride contributed 18 points. Earlier in the day, the injury-depleted Indiana Fever cruised past the Chicago Sky 92-70. Kelsey Mitchell scored 26 points and Lexie Hull, starting in place of the injured Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald, provided 17. The Fever were again without rookie standout Caitlin Clark, out since mid-July with a groin injury, while the Sky played their fifth straight game without Angel Reese because of a back issue.
