Tinder, a dating app owned by Match Group Inc., has introduced a new in-app game called 'The Game Game,' aimed at boosting user engagement and attracting the Gen Z demographic. The game allows users to flirt with AI chatbots powered by OpenAI's GPT-4o and GPT-4o mini models, offering a voice-based, interactive experience. The game is designed as a lighthearted and fun way for users to practice their flirting skills. It features scenarios inspired by romantic comedies, where users engage in conversations with AI personas. The objective is to earn a date with the chatbot by accumulating points for warmth and curiosity, with real-time feedback provided on their responses. Users are limited to five plays per day, each lasting up to three minutes. This feature is currently available as a limited-time offer for iOS users in the U.S. Tinder's vice president of product, growth, and revenue, Hillary Paine, stated that the game aims to provide a judgment-free space for users to experiment and build confidence before engaging in real-life conversations. Match Group has also integrated AI into other applications like Hinge, and competitors such as Grindr are exploring similar AI-driven features.
