Bitcoin experienced a slight increase, reaching around $98,000, following MicroStrategy's announcement of plans to issue more shares. This move is intended to enable the company to purchase additional Bitcoin tokens. MicroStrategy has already completed three rounds of Bitcoin purchases in December, acquiring 42,162 Bitcoin valued at over $4 billion at current prices. The company has filed a document with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) seeking approval to significantly increase the maximum number of shares it can issue. Under MicroStrategy's Plan 21/21, announced in October, the goal is to buy $42 billion worth of Bitcoin over three years. Bitcoin's price movement comes after it fell below the key $100,000 mark last week due to the Federal Reserve's announcement of a slower pace for future interest rate cuts. Since its low of $92,458 on December 23, Bitcoin has gained about 6.5%, though it remains below its all-time high of $108,275 reached on December 17. Analysts suggest that Bitcoin's upward potential remains limited, with the cryptocurrency on track to achieve a 134% increase for the year 2024. Meanwhile, other cryptocurrencies like Ether, XRP, Solana, and Cardano have seen declines.
