BitMine Immersion Technologies said late on 11 August that its Ethereum holdings have climbed to 1,150,263 tokens, worth roughly $4.96 billion at prevailing prices. The purchase of about 317,000 ETH during the previous week lifted the New York-listed firm’s stash to around 1 percent of the cryptocurrency’s circulating supply, making BitMine the largest Ether treasury and the third-largest crypto treasury overall. The following day the company filed a prospectus supplement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to expand its at-the-market stock-sale programme by $20 billion, raising total issuance capacity to $24.5 billion. Proceeds will be used to purchase additional Ether as BitMine pursues a stated goal of owning 5 percent of the network’s supply. Chaired by Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee, the stock has become one of the market’s most actively traded, averaging about $2.2 billion in daily turnover.
