David Tepper's Appaloosa Management significantly adjusted its portfolio during the third quarter of 2024, according to its latest 13F filing. The firm increased its stake in PDD Holdings, the parent company of Temu, and also made new investments in Vistra Corp ($VST), NRG Energy ($NRG), Las Vegas Sands ($LVS), and Wynn Resorts ($WYNN). In contrast, Appaloosa divested from positions in United Parcel Service ($UPS), Boeing ($BA), and Macy's ($M). This filing reflects Tepper's strategic moves amid a broader trend of notable investors, including Warren Buffett and Bill Ackman, updating their portfolios. Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway reported a cash reserve of approximately $320 billion, while also selling a net $34.6 billion in stocks during the same quarter, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of selling. These portfolio adjustments come as investors navigate a market characterized by uncertainty and speculation about future economic conditions.
