Walmart Inc. reported fiscal 2026 second-quarter revenue of $177.4 billion, a 4.8% year-on-year increase that topped Wall Street expectations. Adjusted earnings came in at $0.68 a share, below the $0.74 consensus, as operating income fell 8.2% because of legal and restructuring charges. U.S. comparable sales rose 4.6%, driven by grocery and health-and-wellness demand, while global e-commerce revenue jumped 25% and advertising sales expanded 46%. Despite the profit shortfall, the Bentonville-based retailer raised its full-year outlook, projecting net-sales growth of 3.75%-4.75% and adjusted earnings of $2.52-$2.62 a share, up from prior guidance of 3%-4% and $2.50-$2.60. For the current quarter it forecasts adjusted profit of $0.58-$0.60 a share and sales growth of up to 4.75%. The stock fell roughly 3% in pre-market New York trading as investors weighed the earnings miss against the stronger revenue and guidance hike. Chief Executive Officer Doug McMillon told analysts that tariff-related expenses are climbing as Walmart replenishes inventory at higher import prices and that the pressures are likely to intensify in the third and fourth quarters. Management said the impact on shoppers remains limited and the company is "keeping prices as low as we can" by accelerating imports and widening promotional rollbacks, while continuing to attract higher-income customers.
$WMT Walmart said it now expects net sales to grow between 3.75% to 4.75% for the fiscal year, up from its previous expectations for 3% to 4%. It raised its adjusted earnings per share outlook slightly to $2.52 to $2.62, up from a prior range of $2.50 to $2.60 per share.
