A Twitter account known as Walter Bloomberg, with over 800,000 followers and the handle @DeItaOne, has caused significant fluctuations in Wall Street by posting unverified financial news. The account is known for sharing market news and analysis, including central bank announcements and employment reports, shortly after they are made public. One of the most recent posts from Walter Bloomberg claimed that Donald Trump was considering a 90-day tariff pause for all countries except China, based on an interview with Kevin Hassett on Fox News. This tweet led to a rapid shift in the S&P 500, moving from a 4% drop to a 4.5% gain within seconds, before plummeting again when the tweet was debunked and deleted. The identity behind Walter Bloomberg remains unknown, though the profile picture appears to be that of Russian actor Vyacheslav Shatnenko. The name 'Walter Bloomberg' is believed to be a reference to Bloomberg News. The account's credibility has been questioned due to the increasing frequency of misleading or ambiguous headlines, which have been refuted by political figures and official channels.
