Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has been accused of fostering a toxic culture of lying and engaging in psychological abuse. Former board member Helen Toner revealed that the board learned about the release of ChatGPT through Twitter and was not informed in advance. Toner also disclosed that Altman withheld information, misrepresented company activities, and owned the OpenAI Startup Fund without the board's knowledge. These actions led to Altman's dismissal in November. OpenAI has since announced the formation of a new oversight board, which includes Altman.
