Speculation is rife in the tech community about OpenAI's mysterious new model, referred to as 'GPT-2' by some, which has sparked a debate over its capabilities and classification. While some users suggest it could be an updated version of previous models like GPT-4 Turbo or a fine-tuned LLAMA 3 model, others believe it might not surpass the capabilities of GPT-4.5 or even GPT-5. There are also suggestions that it could be a new transformer architecture, potentially bringing smaller models up to the level of GPT-4. Amidst these discussions, there are predictions that OpenAI might launch GPT-4.5 Turbo for ChatGPT subscribers by summer, making GPT-4 freely accessible, and GPT-5 for ChatGPT Enterprise might be announced at DevDay 2024 in the fall. The model could also be related to GPT-2C, CR+, or be a meta-system-prompted LARP as a flawed previous-gen 'chatbot', and might be a version like GPT-4.413.
This is not "GPT-4.5" https://t.co/WqzDP0JfFn
GPT2 isn’t better than current GPT-4-turbo. So it is definitely not 4.5 or 5. And not even 4. Either this is the new GPT-4 light model, or it really is a new GPT-2 model with a totally new kind of training or processing. The implications of the latter would be absolutely crazy
- very sure that GPT2 is not a GPT-4-turbo checkpoint. - very sure that this isn’t GPT-4.5 or 5 - I can very well imagine that this is an older model like 3.5 finetuned on something new - I don’t think it’s from a trolling conpetitor - if it’s GPT-2, this will change everything
