Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic and Sem Verbeek of the Netherlands captured the Wimbledon mixed-doubles title on Thursday, defeating Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Britain’s Joe Salisbury 7-6(3), 7-6(3) on Centre Court. Despite the straight-sets loss, Stefani became the first Brazilian woman to reach any Wimbledon final since Maria Esther Bueno in 1967, underscoring a breakthrough campaign that also included a quarter-final run in the women’s doubles. The 27-year-old required mid-match treatment for back discomfort but returned to force tiebreaks in both sets. Siniakova, already a 10-time women’s-doubles major champion, claimed her first mixed-doubles Grand Slam crown, while Verbeek secured the first major title of his career. Salisbury, a four-time men’s-doubles major winner, was bidding for a maiden mixed-doubles trophy on home soil.
