Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have intensified diplomatic engagement aimed at deepening security and economic cooperation. In a 13 July phone call, Erdogan said Türkiye’s “Terror-free Türkiye” initiative marked a decisive step toward removing terrorism from both the country’s and the wider region’s agenda, according to a statement from Türkiye’s Communications Directorate. Erdogan added that the two nations’ strategic partnership is yielding gains in areas such as defence and emerging technologies. He also voiced support for peace talks between Azerbaijan and Armenia hosted in Abu Dhabi, underscoring Ankara’s interest in broader regional stability. Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the counter-terrorism drive and said the UAE would back efforts that contribute to regional security. The dialogue moved from telephone to face-to-face on 16 July, when Erdogan greeted the Emirati leader with an official ceremony at the Presidential Complex in Ankara. While no new agreements were announced at the reception, Turkish officials said discussions would continue during the visit, focusing on counter-terrorism coordination, trade expansion and joint investment projects.
