Turkey and the United Arab Emirates signed seven cooperation accords in Ankara on 16 July, deepening a strategic partnership first outlined in 2023. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan witnessed the ceremony after chairing the inaugural session of the Türkiye–UAE High-Level Strategic Council. The agreements cover investment in tourism and hospitality, pharmaceuticals, industry and manufacturing, food and agriculture, the formation of a joint consular committee, mutual protection of classified information, and collaboration on polar research. Ministers and senior officials from both governments signed the memoranda of understanding. Erdogan said bilateral trade is on track to exceed $20 billion this year and set a medium-term target of $40 billion, underlining the countries’ ambition to expand cooperation beyond commerce to defence, technology and regional diplomacy, including discussions on the Gaza crisis.
