A magnitude-3.8 earthquake struck the Marmara Sea off the coast of Silivri, Istanbul, at 14:24 local time on 5 July, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported. AFAD said the epicenter was about 24.7 kilometers from Silivri at a depth of roughly 8.9 kilometers. The tremor was felt in several districts of Istanbul and surrounding provinces; authorities did not immediately release information on any damage or injuries.
