A magnitude-6.2 earthquake struck off the Pacific coast of Panama on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The temblor was centered about 210 kilometers south of Punta Burica in Chiriquí province, near the border with Costa Rica, at an estimated depth of 10 kilometers. Panama’s civil protection agency said the quake was felt in western parts of the country but that there were no immediate reports of injuries, structural damage or service interruptions. Authorities added that the tremor posed no tsunami risk and that monitoring of the area would continue.
