On the anniversary of the July 15, 2016 failed coup attempt in Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Muzaffer Gülşen, a 99-year-old woman from Kızılcahamam who lost three sons—two sons and a son-in-law—during the event. Gülşen, still grieving, donated her savings to support children in Palestine, handing the funds to Erdoğan. The coup attempt also claimed the lives of Erol Olçok and his 16-year-old son Abdullah Tayyip, who were killed by gunfire while defending the Bosphorus Bridge. Additionally, Beytullah and Şakir Yeşilay, sons of Türkan and Hacı Bekir Yeşilay from Yozgat, faced tragedy during the coup, with one brother killed and the other wounded. Metin Arslan, who was killed near Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality during the coup, is remembered by his sisters with both sorrow and pride. These commemorations highlight the ongoing remembrance of those who lost their lives resisting the coup attempt orchestrated by the FETÖ organization.
