DC Studios president James Gunn is weighing television spinoff series built around two breakout characters from his upcoming US$225 million Superman reboot—Mister Terrific, portrayed by Edi Gathegi, and photographer Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo—according to a Wall Street Journal report. The film opens globally this weekend and, insiders told the newspaper, will need to surpass roughly US$500 million in worldwide ticket sales to meet Warner Bros. Discovery’s internal profitability threshold. The potential shows form part of a broader content roadmap laid out by Gunn and DC Studios co-chief Peter Safran that targets two live-action features, multiple streaming series and one animated project each year. Executives ultimately aim to re-establish the comic-book brand’s core heroes and converge the storylines in a new Justice League film, the Journal said.
