"It's ridiculous, I don't understand" - Max Holloway questions UFC's featherweight rankings after lightweight move https://t.co/HrlOKwrDoj
"I want to be the bad guy": Max Holloway will not roll over for Dustin Poirier at #UFC318 and says he can't lose another trilogy. "The main history I ain't trying to make is be a man who fought two different trilogies and went 0-3." (via @MikeBohn) https://t.co/0y3YHSyW6s
Max Holloway doesn't know why he's still ranked #1 at featherweight 😅 "I don't know what you guys are thinking keeping me the #1 contender there. I'm not going back to 145, I'm over it... It's ridiculous, I don't understand it." (via @MMAJunkie) #UFC318 https://t.co/7EXaX7ER3H
Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway has asked the promotion to remove him from its featherweight rankings, calling it “ridiculous” that he is still listed as the division’s No. 1 contender despite a permanent move to lightweight. Holloway, now ranked No. 5 at 155 pounds, said his days of cutting to 145 are over after a headline-grabbing knockout of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 and a subsequent defeat to Ilia Topuria at UFC 308. Holloway is preparing to face No. 6-ranked lightweight Dustin Poirier for the BMF title at UFC 318 on July 19 in New Orleans, a bout Poirier has billed as his final fight. The Hawaiian fighter criticised what he sees as inconsistencies in the UFC’s ranking system, noting that other athletes are promptly shifted when they change weight classes while he remains listed atop the featherweight list.
