On the night of August 27-28, 2025, Kyiv experienced a series of missile and drone attacks by Russian forces, resulting in widespread damage across six districts of the Ukrainian capital. The attacks included ballistic missiles and Shahed drones equipped with jet engines reportedly sourced from the Czech Republic, China, and Germany. Among the targeted sites was the Bayraktar drone manufacturing plant in Kyiv, which sustained serious damage from two missile strikes. Despite ongoing conflict and previous assaults, the company had invested tens of millions of dollars, trained staff, and was close to completing its production facilities. Additionally, Russian strikes hit residential buildings in Kyiv and damaged the EU Delegation in the city. The attacks followed recent Russian destruction of an American-owned factory in western Ukraine. Footage captured by residents and drivers in Kyiv documented the missile strikes and their aftermath.
