Slovakia is facing a historic cyberattack on its cadastral system, known as ÚGKK, which has rendered critical property data inaccessible. The attack has reportedly compromised the real estate registry, and officials have indicated that there are no proper backups available, leading to the potential permanent loss of some data. Hackers are demanding a ransom in the seven-figure range in USD. The opposition party, SaS, has called for an emergency meeting of the Security Council in response to the attack. The disruption has halted real estate transactions, as banks are unable to release funds from approved loans, and individuals cannot access their loans. The attack may have originated from Ukraine, according to government ministers. Minister of Agriculture Richard Takáč described the incident as the largest cyberattack in Slovakia's history during a press conference following the Security Council meeting.
