Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Thursday that he is prepared to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin "at leaders’ level" in order to bring the war to an end. Zelenskyy’s remarks followed a phone call the same day between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump. Zelenskyy voiced support for Trump’s proposal for an unconditional ceasefire and added that he hopes to speak with the U.S. leader "tomorrow or in the coming days" to clarify Washington’s stance on continued military assistance. The comments come after the United States paused deliveries of key munitions and air-defence systems to Kyiv. Speaking in Copenhagen alongside European Union officials, the Ukrainian leader stressed that decision-making in Moscow rests solely with Putin, reinforcing the need for a direct summit. Zelenskyy also urged the United States, the EU and NATO to maintain predictable, long-term support, noting that certain capabilities—such as Patriot air-defence batteries—cannot be supplied by Europe alone.

Zelenskyy: Trump and Putin don't have much in common. We supported Trump’s idea of an unconditional ceasefire. In Russia, only Putin makes decisions. That’s why we need a leaders-level meeting to achieve real peace. 1/ https://t.co/R77RuU1Jgp
