President Joe Biden, speaking in Kerrville, Texas, said his administration has deployed more than 400 federal first responders and facilitated over 1,500 rescues as part of the ongoing response to the state’s latest emergency. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Coast Guard have dispatched multiple search-and-rescue teams to bolster state and local efforts. Biden added that the White House approved Texas’s request for emergency funds within minutes of receiving it. Governor Greg Abbott praised the speed of the federal declaration and resource deployment, calling it the fastest response he has witnessed from any administration.
"We cannot thank you enough for deploying the @USCG, deploying the resources... Immediately, when I made a request for a disaster declaration, you and your administration granted that. This is the fastest that I'm aware of, of any administration responding..." - @GregAbbott_TX https://t.co/Be1zXkb1RO
