Meanwhile, Indiana is set to open a federally backed 1,000-bed detention facility called 'Speedway Slammer.' This development follows the recent passage of a reconciliation bill aimed at increasing resources for immigration enforcement. The Archdiocese of Miami has also received permission to provide continuous services at the Alligator Alcatraz center. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the establishment of the Speedway Slammer facility in Indiana as part of the administration's efforts to manage migrant detention more effectively.
