California Governor Gavin Newsom has escalated his online imitation of President Donald Trump by launching a line of MAGA-inspired merchandise that includes a $100 Bible, red “Newsom Was Right” trucker caps and other items branded “Real Patriot,” “Newsom 2026” and “Trump Is Not Hot.” The Bible quickly sold out, and the governor’s press office circulated an image of a “Newsom 2028” flag, fueling speculation about his national ambitions. The combative social-media campaign is timed to bolster support for Newsom’s proposed overhaul of California’s electoral maps, which will be decided in a Nov. 4 special election. Since the governor adopted Trump-style all-caps posts and memes on X in early August, his official account has added roughly 250,000 followers, logged 1.5 million profile visits and registered an engagement rate above 50%, according to data cited by ABC7 San Francisco. A UC Berkeley–LA Times poll shows 46% of registered voters back the redistricting plan, with 36% opposed and 18% undecided. Separately, 59% of respondents said Newsom should continue his aggressive online posture, while 29% favored a more conciliatory approach. Trump, who earlier labeled the governor “Newscum” on Truth Social, has dismissed the trolling as a stunt, but political analysts say Newsom’s strategy is succeeding in amplifying a complicated policy fight that might otherwise draw limited attention.
Newsom says 8 of 10 murder states are red. True. But 9 of the 10 cities driving the numbers are Democrat run. The one Republican city flipped just 6 months ago and murders are already dropping. Newsom manipulates stats because he can’t tell the truth. https://t.co/J29XVLuvmQ
Gavin Newsom is 100% right. Big, blue cities in red states, that have been ruled by Democrats for decades, have shockingly-high crime rates.
Gavin Newsome using the most White and Asian city in CA to prove a point about homicide 🤔 https://t.co/CDVafVbV4O
