The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has reduced the backlog of veterans' disability benefits claims by nearly 40% since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025. Under the leadership of Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins, the VA has processed more disability benefits claims this year than ever before, setting a new record for claims processing. The backlog, which had increased by 24% during the previous administration, has now decreased by over 37%, marking progress in delivering benefits to veterans. Congressional representatives, including Vern Buchanan and Dan Crenshaw, have acknowledged the improvements and offered assistance to veterans seeking help with their claims.
