Epstein Interest Drops 89%, Less Than 1% See It as Top Issue; Trump Approval Holds at 38% Amid 70% Disapproval of Epstein Handling
The public interest in the Epstein case has markedly declined over the past few weeks, with Google searches for Epstein dropping by approximately 89% since mid-July 2025. According to CNN analyst Harry Enten, the Epstein saga has become a "nothingburger" politically, with less than 1% of Americans considering it the nation's top issue. Despite the media attention surrounding the case, President Donald Trump's approval rating has remained relatively steady and is currently higher than at the same point during his first presidency. However, recent polling data from Pew Research indicates that Trump's overall approval rating has dipped to 38% as of early August 2025, with 60% disapproving. The disapproval is notably high among Black (83%), Hispanic (70%), and Asian (69%) demographics, while approval among White respondents stands at 47%. Additionally, 70% of U.S. adults disapprove of the Trump administration's handling of the Epstein scandal, including 53% of Republicans. Other polls show mixed approval ratings in key states, with Morning Consult reporting 53% approval in Florida and 46% in Wisconsin. The data suggests that while the Epstein story no longer dominates public discourse or significantly impacts Trump's approval, his overall job approval faces challenges across various demographic groups.
