Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that he “can’t rule anything out” when asked whether he might seek the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028. The billionaire Hyatt heir added that, for now, he is focused on winning a third term as Illinois’ governor in 2026. During the same interview Pritzker branded former President Donald Trump a “cheater” in both his personal and professional life. Pritzker also used the appearance to denounce a mid-decade Texas redistricting effort backed by Governor Greg Abbott and former President Trump. The Democratic governor said the proposed map violates the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution, noting that Illinois has been hosting more than 30 Texas House Democrats who fled their state to block the plan. Pritzker called the lawmakers “heroes,” underscoring a growing national profile that could bolster any future White House ambitions.
