Former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown has officially launched his campaign to return to the U.S. Senate representing Ohio in the 2026 midterm elections. Brown, who lost his Senate seat in the 2024 election to Republican Bernie Moreno, will challenge the current incumbent Republican Jon Husted, who was appointed to replace JD Vance. Brown's campaign focuses on advocating for Ohio workers, emphasizing a pro-working class message and criticizing policies associated with former President Donald Trump. The 2026 race is viewed as a key contest that could influence control of the Senate. Brown has acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting that if he wins in 2026, he will need to defend his seat again in 2028, potentially running three times within six years. His previous 2024 campaign involved more than $40 million in spending, including significant backing from the cryptocurrency industry. Brown stated he did not initially plan to run again but felt compelled by current circumstances in Ohio.
