Vice President JD Vance on Sunday repeated calls for the Justice Department to bring criminal charges against officials involved in the 2016–17 Trump-Russia investigation, declaring on Fox News that “a lot of people are going to get indicted.” Vance said U.S. intelligence agencies “laundered Hillary Clinton’s campaign talking points” to build the case for alleged Russian collusion and “defrauded the American people.” Vance argued that aggressive violations of law must be punished or “the same play will be repeated,” aligning himself with President Donald Trump’s demand for full transparency. He cited documents recently released by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and former National Security Council official Kash Patel that he contends show misconduct by Obama-era officials. The vice president’s comments follow Attorney General Pam Bondi’s 4 Aug. order empaneling a federal grand jury to review evidence on the origins of the FBI’s 2016 probe. The inquiry is expected to examine whether senior intelligence and law-enforcement leaders improperly targeted Trump’s first campaign. Separately, Vance defended subpoenas issued by the House Oversight Committee seeking testimony from former President Bill Clinton and other high-profile Democrats about their contacts with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, saying Americans “want answers” about repeated trips to Epstein’s private island.
