A federal judge in California has extended Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to more than 50,000 immigrants from Honduras and Nicaragua, halting the Trump administration's effort to terminate the program for these countries as well as Nepal. The Trump administration has responded by emphasizing that TPS is not a form of de facto asylum. Separately, a federal judge blocked the administration from fast-tracking deportations of hundreds of thousands of immigrants paroled under former President Joe Biden's humanitarian programs. In labor-related rulings, a federal appeals court lifted a previous order that had blocked the Trump administration from removing the right of hundreds of thousands of federal workers to engage in union bargaining with U.S. agencies. Additionally, the Trump administration's attempt to end birthright citizenship is facing skepticism from another federal appeals court.
