A federal judge on Tuesday scheduled an Oct. 3 sentencing for Sean “Diddy” Combs, rejecting a bid by both sides to move the hearing up by about two weeks. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian confirmed the date after probation officials said they could not finish their presentence investigation in time for the proposed Sept. 22 session. Combs, 55, was convicted on July 2 of two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution. Each count carries a statutory maximum of 10 years, leaving the hip-hop entrepreneur exposed to as many as 20 years in prison, although federal guidelines are expected to recommend far less. Prosecutors have indicated a range of 51 to 63 months, while the defense argues for 21 to 27 months. Sentencing memoranda are due Sept. 19 and Sept. 26, respectively. Jurors cleared Combs of racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges that could have resulted in a life sentence. He remains at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, where he has been held without bail since his arrest in September 2024. Subramanian last week found Combs had not shown he would pose no danger if released, citing past incidents of violence detailed during the eight-week trial.
