President Donald Trump said Thursday that federal authorities have removed almost 275,000 undocumented immigrants from the Social Security program. The announcement came as he issued a proclamation marking the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act from the Oval Office. Trump linked the purge to last month’s passage of his “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which eliminates federal income tax on Social Security benefits for seniors. He argued that ending payments to ineligible recipients, alongside the new tax relief, would “make the system strong” for current and future retirees. The president added that the Social Security Administration has also deleted 12.4 million records of individuals listed as more than 120 years old, calling the wider cleanup part of an effort to root out fraud, waste and abuse. The White House did not immediately disclose how the figures were calculated or the projected savings from the measures.
