President Donald J. Trump on Tuesday hinted he may seek to add his name to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, referring to the venue as the “TRUMP/KENNEDY CENTER” in a Truth Social post before correcting himself. He said “great” nominees for this year’s Kennedy Center Honors will be unveiled on Wednesday and that the institution is undergoing extensive work to restore it to the “absolute TOP LEVEL of luxury, glamour and entertainment.” The remarks follow a series of management changes at the federally chartered arts complex. The National Pulse reported that Trump has replaced the center’s board members, assumed the role of chairman and installed former acting Director of National Intelligence Richard “Ric” Grenell as president and executive director. Trump also signaled additional investments and potential legislative action aimed at overhauling and possibly renaming parts of the landmark, which traditionally bears only President John F. Kennedy’s name.
