Sleep-technology company Eight Sleep has raised $100 million in fresh capital from HSG, Valor Equity Partners, Founders Fund and Y Combinator, with participation from Ferrari Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc and McLaren Racing Chief Executive Officer Zak Brown. The investment lifts the New York-based start-up’s total financing to roughly $260 million and doubles its valuation since its 2021 Series C round, placing the company just shy of a $1 billion mark, according to executives. Founded in 2014, Eight Sleep sells the AI-enabled Pod mattress system, which tracks biometrics such as heart rate and breathing and automatically adjusts temperature and elevation. The firm says it has generated more than $500 million in Pod sales, logged over one billion hours of sleep data and grown revenue tenfold since the product’s 2019 debut. Proceeds from the latest round will fund expansion into retail stores, further overseas growth— including a planned launch in China— and development of health-focused features such as its FDA-targeted Health Check vital-sign monitoring and Hot Flash Mode for menopause symptom relief.
