OpenAI has requested its investors to refrain from funding five competing AI startups, including SSI, founded by Ilya Sutskever. This move comes after OpenAI secured $6.6 billion in investments from global investors such as Thrive Capital and Tiger Global. The other startups on the list are Anthropic, xAI (Elon Musk's company), Perplexity, and Glean. This request follows a previous incident where OpenAI executives visited Sutskever's home, expressing concerns about OpenAI's potential collapse without his involvement. Despite this, SSI managed to raise $1 billion in funding. According to Reuters, sources say the commitment sought by OpenAI goes beyond just capital.
