AgiBot, a Chinese robotics startup, has successfully completed a new Series B funding round led by Tencent. The round saw participation from several industry players and existing shareholders, including Shanghai Longcheer Technology, Wolong Electric Group, Huafa Group, and Lanchi Venture Capital. This investment marks Tencent's first foray into embodied intelligence, with the company acquiring a 2.0591% stake in AgiBot Robotics. AgiBot is currently valued at 15 billion yuan and is led by former Huawei 'Genius Youth' Peng Zhihui. The funding will support AgiBot's development of general-purpose robots, including the recently launched AgiBot Embodied Intelligent Robot 'RAISE A1', designed for advanced AI-driven interactions. Additionally, AgiBot launched its first general-purpose embodied AI model, Genie Operator-1, to enhance robot adaptability and intelligence. In addition to AgiBot, other AI and robotics startups have also secured significant funding. Nexthop AI launched with $110 million to build more efficient AI infrastructure for hyperscalers, while Chinese AI company ELU.AI raised hundreds of millions in a Pre-A funding round to enhance AI decision-making systems and advance robotics technology. Contoro Robotics, focusing on AI-powered trailer and container unloading, raised $12 million in a Series A round to scale its operations. The company's robots can unload 300-350 cases per hour using a proprietary two-point gripping system called Duo-Grasp. The Bot Company, led by Kyle Vogt, also secured $150 million, and Chinese embodied AI startup TARS raised $120 million in angel funding.
