2K Games has shaken up the leadership of its Cloud Chamber studio after the in-development BioShock 4 failed an internal review, according to a Bloomberg report confirmed by the publisher. Studio head Kelley Gilmore has been removed and creative director Hogarth de la Plante reassigned to a publishing role while the game’s narrative, singled out as a weak point in the assessment, undergoes a full overhaul. Employees were told at an all-hands meeting that the Montreal- and San Francisco-based developer must become “more agile and efficient,” raising concerns of possible layoffs, people familiar with the situation said. A 2K spokesperson said the company still believes it has “a good game” and is committed to “delivering a great one.” Separately, a planned remake of the original 2007 BioShock was shelved earlier this year. The BioShock series has sold more than 43 million copies, but no new mainline entry has launched since 2013’s BioShock Infinite.
