Capcom has teamed with Sony-owned Aniplex and South Korean studio Joycity to develop “Resident Evil: Survival Unit,” the horror franchise’s first real-time strategy game for iOS and Android. The title was announced during Aniplex’s games panel at Anime Expo. Former Square Enix veteran Shinji Hashimoto, now a senior vice-president at Aniplex, is overseeing the project, which the partners say is being built in “close collaboration” with Capcom to preserve the series’ tone and lore. A global release is planned. A full reveal is scheduled for an online showcase on 10 July at 6 p.m. Eastern time (3 p.m. Pacific; 11 p.m. UK), when further gameplay and launch details are expected. The spin-off arrives a month after Capcom confirmed the next mainline entry, “Resident Evil Requiem,” due in February 2026, highlighting the publisher’s strategy to extend the brand across new genres and platforms.
