Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with his Mauritian counterpart, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, on 24 June 2025, underscoring what both leaders called the “special and unique” relationship between the two Indian Ocean nations. An official readout said the two prime ministers agreed to deepen the India–Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership by broadening cooperation in development projects, capacity building, defence, maritime security and digital infrastructure, while also strengthening people-to-people links. Modi described Mauritius as a key partner in India’s Vision MAHASAGAR and Neighbourhood First policy. Modi thanked Ramgoolam for Mauritius’s participation in the 11th International Day of Yoga on 21 June and extended an invitation for the Mauritian leader to make an early visit to India, the statement added.
